SAFETY & SECURITY – CAMPUS SUPERVISOR

 

Purpose Statement

The job of Campus Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities for the safety and welfare of students during classroom and non-classroom activities; monitoring personnel and/or visitors; communicating information in response to inquires; minimizing the frequency and severity of harmful incidents: and communicating observations and/or incidents that have a potential impact on the general well being of students, school personnel and visitors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; and practicing cultural competency while working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including software; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; setting priorities; and working with frequent and sustained interruptions.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 80% walking, 10% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
