VISUAL ARTS COORDINATOR

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Missouri Teacher Certificate - Art K-12
  2. Master’s degree
  3. Classroom experience
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and

 

REPORTS TO:        Executive Director, Academic Services

 

SUPERVISES:        Staff members designated by the Board or the Superintendent.

 

JOB GOAL:            To provide each student enrolled in the district with varied opportunities to learn about and enjoy art experiences as a practitioner and/or as an appreciator.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises the development of the K-12 curriculum to be implemented by the visual arts
  2. Plans and implements in-service workshops and staff development for the K-12 visual arts
  3. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with each level of
  4. Assists principals in the supervision and evaluation of art
  5. Determines the visual arts staffing needs and assists in the recruiting and screening of visual arts
  6. Determines placement of K-12 visual arts teachers, re-configuring teacher assignments when changes are made in the schedules during the school year.
  7. Prepares the art program budget to maintain parity among
  8. Approves purchase requests and monitors the art budget to ensure the needs of the department are being met.
  9. Works with the visual arts staff in selecting art materials and resources to support and enrich the visual arts curriculum.
  10. Oversees the repairs, maintenance, or replacement of
  11. Manages the resource
  12. Supervises the work of the district’s display
  13. Organizes all district-wide art exhibitions of student
  14. Provides leadership in the planning of individual school art
  15. Serves as a consultant in new facility planning for art
  16. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication
  17. Compliance with good safety
  18. Compliance with all district rules, regulations, and
  19. Other duties/responsibilities deemed necessary may be

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:                                 The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk,

hear, and speak and must have close, moderate, and distant vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

 

 

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:    The work environment is consistent with a typical office/school

environment.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                                      Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of

Education. Benefits according to Board policies.
