FOOD & NUTRITION SERVICES - MIDDLE SCHOOL MANAGER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma.
- Experience in quantity food preparation and management.
- Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director, Food and Nutrition Services
JOB GOAL: To lead and manage a school cafeteria in providing delicious, nutritious, and affordable meals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule, train, supervise, and direct the work of assigned personnel.
- Oversee and assist with preparation and serving of several quality food choices.
- Maintain all kitchen financial records, including deposits, inventories, forms, and reports.
- Review financial reports for accuracy.
- Maintain fiscal responsibilities by controlling food purchasing.
- Order weekly supplies based on materials on hand and forecasted production requirements.
- Check quality, quantity, and accuracy of weekly deliveries and sign invoices only after order verified.
- Oversee storage and rotation of stock.
- Assist personnel with cashiering.
- Assure compliance to Health Department Regulations.
- Oversee completion of established HACCP procedures.
- Adhere to good safety practices.
- Complete annual performance evaluations for subordinate personnel.
- Complete information disciplinary action as needed, assist Supervisor with formal disciplinary action as needed.
- Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills working in a courteous and cooperative manner with students and school and kitchen staff.
- Attend district staff development opportunities to update skills.
- Inform employees of all matters that concern them within the department and district on a continual basis.
- Affirm the good work of employees and instruct where improvement is needed.
- Maintain a positive relationship with the building Principal.
- Communicate to students, parents, and the community, in written or verbal communication, a positive nutrition message on behalf of the district.
- Manage cafeteria during summer school, as needed.
- Incorporate nutrition education into cafeteria.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position must be physically capable of constant standing and frequent walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and fine motor dexterity. The individual must be able to work in a hot, humid environment continuously and work in cold or below zero environment for short periods. The individual must be able to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
