Early Childhood Developmental Screener (Part-Time)

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  1. Certification in one of the following: Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Human Development and Family Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences OR a four-year degree with two years of successful experience working with children and families.
  2. Profound knowledge of the developmental stages of 2–5-year-old children, including a comprehensive grasp of how preschool-aged children learn and develop. Familiarity with DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) approved screening instruments, as well as vision, hearing, and dental screening tools.
  3. Possess the knowledge, skills, abilities and physical attributes to perform the essential functions of the position.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:  Parents as Teachers Lead Parent Educator

 

JOB GOAL:      Assess the developmental progress of young children to identify any potential developmental delays or concerns. Your primary role will involve conducting screenings, utilizing standardized tools and observational techniques, to evaluate various areas of child development. This position plays a crucial role in early intervention by identifying children who may benefit from additional assessments or support services.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Prepares for screening session, which includes preparing paperwork required for the screening and setting up screening area, if necessary.
  2. Administers approved developmental screening instruments according to screening instrument guidelines.
  3. Administers vision, hearing, and dental screenings, which may include functional assessments and/or other instruments as indicated in the ECDA manual.
  4. Records all screening information on screening protocol and summary forms.
  5. Shares screening results to parents/guardians.
  6. Demonstrates the ability to engage and empower parents/guardians.
  7. Adheres to good safety practices.
  8. Adheres to all district policies and procedures.
  9. Other assigned duties as required.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Be organized, independent and self-motivated.
  2. Be competent with technology including email, the internet, and the web-based record keeping systems.

  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     Nine, ten, eleven, or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:             Performance of this job will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor.
