FOOD & NUTRITION SERVICES, HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT MANAGER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma.
  2. Experience in quantity food preparation and management.
  3. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:                                                  Food and Nutrition Services High School Manager

 

JOB GOAL:                                                       To assist the High School Manager in insuring each child has the opportunity to have a nutritious and economical meal.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedule, train, supervise, and direct the work of assigned personnel.
  2. Oversee and assist with preparation and serving of several quality food choices.
  3. Assist in maintaining all kitchen financial records, including deposits, inventories, forms, and reports.
  4. Review financial reports for accuracy when assigned by the manager.
  5. Check quality, quantity, and accuracy of weekly deliveries and sign invoices only after order verified.
  6. Oversee storage and rotation of stock.
  7. Assure compliance to Health Department Regulations.
  8. Adhere to good safety practices.
  9. Coordinate breakfast program.
  10. Assist personnel with cashiering.
  11. Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills working in a courteous and cooperative manner with students and school and kitchen staff.
  12. Help inform employees of all matters that concern them within the department and district on a continual basis.
  13. Affirm the good work by employees and instruct where improvement is needed.
  14. Help gather information about student food preferences by surveys, comments, and participation records and communicate these to the FNS Director.
  15. Promote the objectives of the FNS Program with staff, students, and patrons.?
  16. Promote the reimbursable meals and offer items of wholesome nutrition for extra sales.
  17. Attend district staff development opportunities to update skills.?
  18. Adhere to all district rules, regulations, and policies.?
  19. Other duties as required or assigned.  

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:                                    The individual who holds this position must be physically capable of constant standing and frequent walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and fine motor dexterity. The individual must be able to work in a hot, humid environment continuously and work in cold or below zero environment for short periods. The individual must be able to operate commercial kitchen equipment.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                             Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.

EVALUATION:                                                 Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
