Assistant Principal - Early Education Center 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Missouri Administrative certification appropriate for specific level
  2. Degree(s) required and area of major study, early childhood special education preferred
  3. Experience needed for specific assignment
  4. Successful early education experience, early childhood special education preferred
  5. Demonstrates effective human relations and communications skills
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable

 

REPORTS TO:                                                 Executive Director of Special Programs / Building Principal

 

JOB GOAL:                                                       To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the education development of each student.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
  2. Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal.
  3. Assists with implementation of early childhood education in compliance with multiple funding sources, including early childhood special education, Title I preschool, Missouri’s Foundation Formula, and local funds.
  4. Assists with the coordination of the special education referral process for the purpose of maintaining compliance with IDEA and local district policy regarding the identification of students with disabilities.
  5. Assists and supports the transition of students from early education programs to school-age.
  6. Assists in the screening process and placement of students in all early education programs.
  7. As assigned by the principal, serves as the Local Education Agency representative in Individual Education Program (IEP) and other decision-making meetings regarding special education for individual students
  8. Assists the principal to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies that provide services and support to children and their families.
  9. Collaborates in planning high quality professional development.
  10. Assists with identifying opportunities for integration of all preschool programming.
  11. Assists the principal to ensure the provision of high-quality instruction and effective practices.
  12. Assists with completion of reports required for compliance and program evaluation.
  13. Supervises and evaluates teachers and staff as assigned by the principal.
  14. Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal relationship and communication skills (written, oral, and electronically) for the purpose of maintaining an efficient working environment for self and others.
  15. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct.

  17. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
  18. Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                             Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:                                                 Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Administrator Evaluation process.
