QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma.
2. To be fully bilingual, bi-literate, and bi-cultural in cross cultural communication skills.
3. Excellent computer and organizational skills.
4. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions
of the position.
5. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.


REPORTS TO: ELL Program Coordinator


JOB GOAL: To facilitate the ELL department’s interpretation and
translation. Provide interpretation and document translation
services district wide.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Acts as on-site language interpreter to facilitate communication with students and families.
2. Provides interpretation for parent meetings, conferences, and during the enrollment process.
3. Assists school personnel with home visits as needed for support with translation and interpretation.
4. Translates documents as needed.
5. Maintains computer records related to interpretation and document translation.
6. Adheres to good safety practices.
7. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
8. Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
9. Other duties as required or assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board.


EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions
of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based
Support Staff Evaluation process.
