SAFETY & SECURITY – CAMPUS SUPERVISOR

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma.
  2. Background of training and experience in the following areas is preferred: firefighter,emergency medical technician, police or security, the military, or school discipline.
  3. Complete the requirements to obtain CPR and AED certification.
  4. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  5. Ability to operate a computer and applicable software relevant to the position to include the district's camera system.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Safety & Security; Building Administrator

 

JOB GOAL: To assure that the school building and grounds are maintained as positive, safe learning and working environments for students, staff, parents and visitors. Works with school administration to help monitor the school site and address challenges, problems and emergencies in both a preventive and responsive manner.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor students’ first hour tardiness and single period truancies issuing discipline slips or referring them to the principal in accordance with the handbook of student conduct.
  2. Monitor external walkways, parking lots, lobbies, entryways, internal hallways and lunchrooms. Refer violations of school policy to the assistant principal or appropriate person.
  3. Work extracurricular activities outside of normal work hours to include, but not limited to, sporting events and other school and district activities as needed.
  4. Staff controlled access points when necessary.
  5. Make referrals involving student misconduct or duress to the assistant principal, counseling staff, peer mediation or others as appropriate.
  6. Respond to problems in the classroom as requested by teachers.
  7. Respond immediately to reports of drugs and weapons in the school.
  8. Resolve student conflicts and/or fights in a safe and professional manner.
  9. Issue trespass warnings to individuals on school property for non-legitimate reasons.
  10. Direct the flow of people and traffic as necessary.
  11. Serve as an active member on the school’s crisis team. 
  12. Assist in the school’s response and provide direction to staff and students for fire alarms, tornado alarms, intruder response, and similar incidents requiring active responses with little or no advance warning. 
  13. Maintain records and files as required.
  14. Submit reports as requested.
  15. Attends training as required by administration.
  16. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  17. Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  18. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
  19. Other duties as required or assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                         Nine-month position. Salary and work schedule to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:                                            Performance of this job will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:                               The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, stands for long periods of time, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel inside and outside of district facilities. The position requires a significant amount of walking and physical activity.

 

 

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:          The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

FLSA:                                                          Non-exempt

CLEARANCES:                                            Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

 

EVALUATION:                                            Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based {insert} Evaluation process.
