EL – ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS, ON-CALL ASSESSOR

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is
  • Experience administering any form of assessment with students is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with ELL department staff, school personnel, students, and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds required.
  • Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:                     ELL Program Coordinator

 

JOB GOAL:                          To administer paper- and computer-based language development assessments to language minority students in the district. This on-call position is as-needed, during the two busiest assessment timeframes in the academic school year: July-September and January-March.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

 

  • Administers the district’s ELL language development intake assessment to incoming language minority students: kindergartners and students new to the district (highest volume during July-September). Assessments are both paper-based and computer-based.
  • Administers annual federally-mandated assessments of ELL students (January-March). Assessments are both paper-based and computer-based.
  • On-call, as needed availability with highest volume of work needed during July-September and January-March.
  • Maintains necessary training certification for assessment administration.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Adheres to good safety practices.
  • Adheres to all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:                                                     The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

 

 

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:                         The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

CLEARANCES:                                                              Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

 

 

EVALUATION:                                                                    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
