QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Braille reading and writing.
- Advanced work in Education or related field would be preferred.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma is required.
- Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Teacher of the Visually Impaired and the Director of Pupil Services
JOB GOAL: To support the teacher of the visually impaired in providing a quality
educational program for the visually impaired student.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transcribe print into Braille using Perkins Braillewriter.
- Transcribe print into Braille using translating program and Braille printer.
- Translate Braille into print.
- Create tactile drawings.
- Implement IEP goals as delineated by the teacher of the visually impaired, including but not limited to, Braille instruction.
- Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
- Adheres to good safety practices.
- Adheres to all district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, eleven, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the immediate
supervisor. |
