PARAPROFESSIONAL, BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONIST

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A minimum of thirty-sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is required, pass the Paraprofessional test in the State of Missouri or Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program, sixty college hours is preferred.
  2. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  3. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:     Building Principal

 

JOB GOAL:    To assist in the implementation of all aspects of the building’s behavior intervention support program, including, but not limited to, the delivery of researched based intervention strategies to individual students as well as small groups of students, and progress monitoring of those students.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) initiatives.
  2. Assists behavior team in developing plans for being successful in the classroom.
  3. Provides mentoring and small group social skill/behavior instruction to students.
  4. Collects and documents data, related reports, and child records for the purpose of ongoing behavior intervention service planning and review.
  5. Assists school staff for the purpose of implementing intervention strategies to follow specified behavior management plans.
  6. Collaborates with the school team and district team for the purpose of implementing the behavior intervention plans.
  7. Provides assistance with de-escalating student behaviors and reintegration back into the classroom.
  8. Participate in professional development opportunities.
  9. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected of a fully licensed teacher.
  10. Adheres to good safety practices.
  11. Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

 

 

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:                         The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.
